Some things are kept for a year from now and some for tomorrow morning. Treating both the same way was the mistake that took us longest to see.
Now
A story is written today and is useful today. It needs no date and no lock. It needs a place to wait while you decide what to do with it. That is what the Story Bank is for: you write, dictate or import a WhatsApp conversation, and the story stays there, yours, until you take it somewhere else.
On a date
A capsule is a story with a date. It is encrypted on your device before it leaves it, and it can only be opened when the day arrives. Not even we can open it early. It is for the child who cannot read yet, for your own self ten years from now, for the person who should receive those words later.
Every year
Some questions deserve to be answered more than once. Life in Chapters asks eight stable questions once a year and keeps each answer next to the earlier ones. Over time the change becomes visible in your own words, without charts or photographs.
Together
Some memories do not belong to one person. A Memory Page gathers what a class, a family or a group of friends remembers about the same person, with moderation and nothing invented.
Four tempos, one place. Start with whichever feels most natural. It is almost always the first.
